
USCs womens water polo team sets national record with 47th consecutive win
Trojans now hold the womens record win streak after a 15-2 win over Indiana
The top-ranked USC womens water polo team has set a national womens record, collecting its 47th consecutive victory Thursday with a 15-2 win over No. 15 Indiana in Honolulu.
Head coach Jovan Vavics team had tied the nations best womens win streak in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with a victory on March 4. In the neutral nonconference match against the Hoosiers yesterday, USC scored early and often to net another victory, improving to 20-0 this year.
Goalies Amanda Longan and Victória Chamorro split time in the cage, backing up a potent defensive stand for the Trojans, paired with a balanced offensive effort. Nikki Stansfield led the way in scoring with a hat trick, while eight other Trojans also scored in the record-breaking win.
USC will host Hawaii in the finale to the Trojans spring break training trip in Honolulu. USC takes on the No. 8 Rainbow Wahine tonight.
