The top-ranked USC women’s water polo team has set a national women’s record, collecting its 47th consecutive victory Thursday with a 15-2 win over No. 15 Indiana in Honolulu.

Head coach Jovan Vavic’s team had tied the nation’s best women’s win streak in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with a victory on March 4. In the neutral nonconference match against the Hoosiers yesterday, USC scored early and often to net another victory, improving to 20-0 this year.

Goalies Amanda Longan and Victória Chamorro split time in the cage, backing up a potent defensive stand for the Trojans, paired with a balanced offensive effort. Nikki Stansfield led the way in scoring with a hat trick, while eight other Trojans also scored in the record-breaking win.

USC will host Hawai’i in the finale to the Trojans’ spring break training trip in Honolulu. USC takes on the No. 8 Rainbow Wahine tonight.
