A USC football rarity: Tailgating on a Friday

On-campus celebrating will be allowed before this week’s Rutgers game, starting at 4 p.m.

USC’s first football season in the Big Ten Conference brings another first this week: on-campus tailgating before a Friday night game.

The Trojans take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum starting at 8 p.m. Friday, and the university will allow tailgating on the University Park Campus from 4-7:30 p.m. The details:

As the university will be in session that day, libraries will remain open during normal hours and classes will take place as scheduled (faculty may make adjustments). Faculty and staff driving to work that day — especially those who park in the McCarthy Parking Structure — are encouraged to leave by 3 p.m.
