USC partners with White Memorial Medical Center to Host Free Community Health, Wellness and Safety Fair

Over 80 local health agencies and community partners scheduled to participate.

As part of an on-going effort to provide the community access to preventative health and wellbeing resources, USC and White Memorial Medical Center (WMMC) have partnered to present the “Bridge to Health” Fair. The event will provide guests with the tools and information to live a healthier lifestyle and help keep their neighborhoods safer.  Partially funded by a USC Neighborhood Outreach Grant, this marks the 10th year the Fair has been offered.

WHAT: A community health, wellness and safety fair that is open to the public, and free of charge to residents of all ages from Boyle Heights to Little Tokyo and beyond.

A variety of health agencies and medical practitioners will be on hand to provide free health screenings, consultations and services regarding:

-Body fat analysis
-Cholesterol control
-Dental health
-Diabetes prevention and care
-Hypertension management
-Osteoporosis prevention
-Free flu shots (guests 9 years and older, first-come, first-served basis)

A special “Ask the Doctor” booth will also feature information regarding a variety of topics including Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, asthma, cancer, mental health, nutrition and physical fitness.

WHO:
-A community collaboration that includes doctors & medical practitioners from the USC Health Sciences Campus and White Memorial Medical Center.
-A Kids Zone coordinated by the local Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA.
-Representatives from more than 80 local health agencies and community partners.
-Community residents.
