March 30, 2017

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Van Jones, JJ Watt and others will appear at the April 5th summit, “Ready to work: How afterschool programs prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century workforce.” It is hosted by the USC Schwarzenegger Institute.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and leaders from government, media, business, education, entertainment and philanthropy will put a spotlight on the effectiveness of afterschool programs and the important role they play in preparing students for college and the workforce at a national afterschool summit in Los Angeles on April 5.

With the White House proposing a complete elimination of federal funding for afterschool programs, which would impact more than 1.6 million students, the summit could not come at a more critical time.

The summit will focus on the role afterschool programs play in preparing students to enter the 21st century workforce and compete in the global workplace. With the rise of globalization, after school programs are vitally important to the future success of American students and businesses and the overall competitiveness of our economy. This event is hosted by the USC Schwarzenegger Institute in partnership with the Afterschool Alliance and After-School All-Stars, with support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
