9,500 offered admission to USC for fall 2020 semester

Demand for a USC education remains strong, as almost 60,000 students applied for admission for the 2020 fall term. Of those who applied, 9,535 have been offered admission, resulting in an acceptance rate of 16%.
Accepted applicants again demonstrated a high level of academic achievement, with an average unweighted GPA of 3.88. USC continues to be a destination for international students, who account for 14% of those offered admission.
Achievement and diversity: Trojan traditions
- Straight-A students make up 38% of the group, and the average admitted student had test scores in the 97th percentile.
⢠The average admitted student enrolled in six to seven Advanced Placement courses if those courses were available at their high school.
⢠17% would be the first in their families to attend college.
⢠Underrepresented minority groups comprise 29%.
⢠30% are Asian.
⢠26% are White.
⢠15% are Hispanic/Latinx.
⢠6% are African American.
From all parts of the country and all around the world
- USC’s fall admits come from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and four U.S. Territories.
⢠3,500 high schools are represented.
⢠California is the most represented state, at 40%. Outside California, the leading U.S. states for students are, in order: Texas, New York, Illinois, Washington and Florida.
⢠International students from 96 countries comprise 14 percent of those admitted, a rate comparable to previous years. Outside the U.S., the most-represented countries are China, India, South Korea, Canada and Mexico.
