A peaceful protest near the University Park Campus on Saturday attracted hundreds of USC students, staff and local residents. The midday march one of several throughout the city in the wake of George Floyds death was organized by students and recent alumni, though the USC Department of Public Safety did provide support.
The USC Office of Religious and Spiritual Life will host an online vigil at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Say Their Names: Honoring Black Lives event, in which the university community is invited to gather and observe 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence together, will take place via Zoom.
The university has hosted a number of online discussion forums and university leaders have issued strong statements of support.
