Provost Michael Quick presents the long-awaited degree a mere 69 years after the World War II veteran started at USC

His story captured our hearts: The World War II veteran who discovered he was one unit short of getting his degree, then returned to USC to finish what he started. Today he officially became the university’s oldest graduate as Provost Michael Quick presented Alfonso Gonzales, 96, with his diploma. Fight on, indeed.
