Colonel Gary Packard and Lessons Learned from ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’

How Service Academies and the Military Should be Involved in Social Policy Debates

WHO: Colonel Gary Packard served at the Pentagon as the Air Force’s writer on the Secretary of Defense’s Comprehensive Review Working Group studying the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in 2010.

Colonel Packard, professor and head of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the United States Air Force Academy, will discuss his involvement in the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal debate over the past seven years. Packard was lead author of the Air Force Academy’s white paper on the repeal.

WHAT: The USC Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans & Military Families at the USC School of Social Work hosts “How Should Service Academies and the Military Be Involved in Social Policy Debates? Lessons Learned from ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’”
