MEDIA ADVISORY: USC Games’ Demo Day and GamePipe Lab offer glimpse at immersive and interactive future of games

Demo Day and GamePipe Showcase feature the best student projects from USC Games

The University of Southern California, one of the nation’s top game design schools will present its final showcase for the year from USC Games’ joint advanced games class, a yearlong capstone project. Student teams will present mobile, networked, computer, augmented reality and virtual reality games that they have developed throughout the year.

WHAT:
Demo Day
Demo Day is an annual exhibition in which USC students premiere the program’s most innovative games of the semester.

The Spring 2017 lineup showcases final versions of games first presented in the fall, including A Slime In Time, an augmented, real-time strategy game; Chatacylsm, an audience vs. player Twitch game; Skyshot, a multiplayer sports game; Smooth Criminals, a 3D stealth game; The Quiet of the Leaves, an introspective 2D adventure game; and many more.

In addition, graduate students with the USC School of Cinematic Arts Interactive Media and Games Division (IMGD) will present their advanced games in a showcase of graduate thesis projects from their three-year M.F.A.

GamePipe Lab Showcase
USC Viterbi School of Engineering will present its GamePipe Laboratory Spring 2017 Showcase. The event will include games such as Boltcraft, a wave-based, third-person action game where you customize your robot to defend yourself and your team against an onslaught of enemies; Polyminis, a sci-fi sandbox game about evolution; and Threshold, a VR escape room experience in a computer-generated environment.
