Albert R. Checcio Named Senior Vice President for University Advancement

The University of Southern California announces the appointment of Albert R. Checcio as the new senior vice president for University Advancement. In this role, Checcio will oversee a comprehensive university advancement and alumni relations program and build relationships with all of USC’s philanthropic and volunteer communities, including prominent individual supporters, charitable foundations, corporate donors, alumni, parents and friends. His top order of business will be organizing and launching the largest fundraising campaign in USC’s history.

Max Nikias. “We were seeking a candidate with the right combination of experience, initiative, and advancement knowledge to build on USC’s legacy of fundraising success… and we certainly found that with Al. He is recognized nationally as a leader and a visionary with an extraordinary track record of helping universities achieve ambitious goals.”

Checcio comes to USC from Fordham University, where he was vice president of development and university relations. His previous experience encompasses the design and execution of fundraising campaigns at institutions such as American University in Washington, D.C.; Temple University in Philadelphia; the University of Pittsburgh; and Drexel University. He also served as vice president of development at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Checcio will report directly to President Nikias and work closely with the provost, deans and academic leaders of the university to build plans and infrastructure in support of the university’s development ambitions.

He holds a bachelor of science degree from Drexel University.
