May 4 at USC: Videogame Students To Demo Creations for Talent Scouts

Demo Day at USC GamePipe Laboratory, in its sixth year, introduces top-ranked videogame students to major game companies and talent agencies.

WHAT: The 12th semi-annual Demo Day for USC’s GamePipe Laboratory.

WHO: Representatives of top videogame companies and talent agencies will watch USC student teams preview their latest creations. Companies include Electronic Arts, Activision, Blizzard, Sony Computer Entertainment, Disney, Zynga, MTV Games, Intel, Grab Games, Wild Needle, Warner Bros., Bally Technologies, Intel, Happynin’ Games, Intrinsic Games and Creative Artists Agency. The popular twice-annual Demo Day event began in 2005.

WHY: For the second year in a row, the Princeton Review this year recognized USC as the home of the nation’s best academic games program. Participants in game development in the GamePipe lab include students from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering’s Computer Science Department and the USC School of Cinematic Arts’ Interactive Media Division.

VISUALS: Eye-popping previews of the newest game monsters, machines, avatars, puzzlers, space vehicles, heroes and other residents in alternative universes. Hear “social music,” see iPad “finger dancing.”

INTERVIEWS: Talk to students entering one of the hottest job markets in the nation, as well as executives and game developers looking for the hottest talent. Also: GamePipe Director Mike Zyda and USC Cinematic Arts game instructor Chris Swain.

WHEN: 9:30 AM – 2 PM on Wednesday, May 4.

WHERE: Bovard Auditorium, ground floor of Bovard Hall (center of campus, next to Tommy Trojan).
