MEDIA ADVISORY: USC Price School of Public Policy Hosts Conference to Address Poverty

The USC Price Center for Social Innovation’s annual conference brings together corporate, nonprofit, public sector and foundation leaders focused on improving opportunities for children and families in marginalized urban communities.

This year’s conference will be held Thurs., April 14, and Fri. April 15, at the Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Midtown.

WHAT: Experts and leaders will delve into innovative strategies for leveraging capital sufficient in scale to significantly reduce concentrated poverty and improve social mobility in marginalized communities.

Topics include:

  • Tax approaches to ensure equitable sharing of resources.
  • Social Impact Bonds a.k.a. “pay-for-success contracts” to finance public programs.
  • Publicly-funded improvements and investments to boost public revenues.
  • Public-private partnerships and strategies to help low-income urban communities.
  • Support for job training and job creation.
  • Federal “Promise Zones” initiative to invest in job creation, spur private investment, increase educational opportunities and reduce crime.
  • “Social entrepreneurship” to invest in innnovation and communities.
