Open House on “The Village at USC” Redevelopment

The Proposed Mixed-use Project, the Largest Undertaken by the University and One of the Largest in Los Angeles in Recent Years, will Create an Estimated 8,900 Jobs and up to 3,000,000 Square Feet of Community-serving Retail, Student Housing and Academic Space, Replacing the Current USC-owned University Village.

WHAT: A community open house featuring a presentation on the proposed The Village at USC, several information stations on different aspects of the project, and access to USC project leaders for questions about the project.

A redevelopment of the existing University Village on land owned by USC, the project will:

* Create an estimated 8,900 new jobs as part of a total of 12,000 jobs (8,000 permanent and 4,000 construction-related) to be added through the USC Specific Plan.
* Provide up to 350,000 square feet of retail serving both the USC campus and the community, including at least one grocery store, several sit-down restaurants, a food court, shops and services
* Add up to 5,200 critically needed student beds, relieving pressure on the neighborhood and returning approximately 900 privately-owned housing units now occupied by students to the community
* Accomplish all of the above without public land, public subsidies or public funds.

WHO: USC experts on the project and interested members of the community:

* Kristina Raspe, vice president for real estate development and asset management
* David Galaviz, executive director of local government relations
* Representatives of student and community outreach groups at USC.

WHEN: 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27.

WHERE: The Founders Room at the Galen Center arena, corner of Figueroa Ave. and Jefferson Blvd. Free media parking with valid credentials in structure PS2, accessed off northbound Figueroa between Exposition and Jefferson Blvds.
