Progress at USC Village: Take a bird’s-eye look

Massive residential-retail development is coming to life at the former University Village site

As the USC Village project rises on the site of the former University Village shopping center, it’s tough to get a good look at what’s happening behind the construction fences. Not to worry: Our USC cameras got a bird’s-eye look at the project as it sprouts from the ground.

The 1.25-million-square-foot residential-retail center will feature a cluster of five-story residence halls, providing housing for up to 2,700 students each year. On the ground level will be shops including a Trader Joe’s market.

Due to open in 2017, USC Village is the largest building project in university history, and the most expansive development project in the history of South Los Angeles.
