Trojan Marching Band to salute USC Olympians at Saturday’s football game
Seventeen athletes are scheduled to take a bow at the Coliseum
The Spirit of Troy will celebrate USC’s proud Olympic heritage and the Trojan athletes who represented the university in Rio de Janeiro at halftime of Saturday’s USC football game against Arizona State University at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Seventeen USC Olympians representing seven countries — including gold medalists Allyson Felix, Kaleigh Gilchrist, Kami Craig and Dalilah Muhammad — are scheduled to appear on the field to take a bow.
The Trojan Marching Band’s halftime presentation will feature two iconic Olympic anthems: John Williams’ “Olympic Fanfare and Theme” and “Bugler’s Dream” by Leo Arnaud. The band will also perform the 1984 weightlifting theme “Power” and “Gonna Fly Now” from the film Rocky, both by composer Bill Conti.
USC has produced more Olympians, overall medalists and gold medalists than any other university in the United States, winning a gold at every Summer Games since 1912. The Trojan Marching Band has its own distinguished Olympic history, performing at both the 1932 and 1984 opening ceremonies and the 1996 and 2002 torch runs.
Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., with the halftime show beginning at approximately 7:15 p.m.
