Trojans show their pride at USC LGBTQ+ History Month celebration
The 90-minute event was presented by the LGBTQ+ History Month Planning Committee, led by the Office of Inclusion and Diversity.
Hundreds of Trojans stopped by Hahn Plaza on Thursday for this year’s USC LGBTQ+ History Month Celebration.
Free “Queer History in Our Hands” tote bags, designed by student Madysen Nay of USC School of Dramatic Arts, were distributed. Attendees gathered around tables and used markers to make their bags unique by filling in the two hands, clouds and rainbow drawn on the bag.
Students, faculty and staff were also treated to an array of fresh “plus-sized” cookies from Echo Park-based Brady’s Bakery with names that included “Southern Belle” (snickerdoodle with pecans and maple syrup) and “The Central Perk” (dark chocolate with expresso and creamy latte ganache).
The 90-minute event was presented by the LGBTQ+ History Month Planning Committee, led by the Office of Inclusion and Diversity. Among the organizations with tables at the event was QuASA (Queer and Ally Student Assembly), which in past years has presented a large-scale PrideFest during October. QuASA members said PrideFest is instead planned for March and will be in a concert format.
