USC Academic Honors Convocation honors inspiring faculty
The event recognizes that USC is above all else a community of scholars. Part 1 on Monday honored faculty members; student scholars will be recognized Wednesday.
USC honored outstanding faculty members Monday in the first portion of the 40th annual Academic Honors Convocation. Student scholars will be honored at a separate Wednesday.
Faculty members honored at Mondays event, also held online, were:
Distinguished Professors: Awarded very selectively to those whose accomplishments have brought special renown to USC.

Faculty Lifetime Achievement Award: Awarded to a very select number of retired faculty at the annual Academic Honors Convocation, the USC Faculty Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes eminent careers and notable contributions to the university, the profession and the community.

Phi Kappa Phi Faculty Recognition Award: Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest interdisciplinary honor society at USC.

The USC Academic Honors Convocation is traditionally held in April and recognizes faculty and student scholars for the academic year that is coming to a close. The convocation held Oct. 22, 2020, was for the academic year 2019-2020 and had been postponed due to the pandemic.
