USC architecture pipeline course helps high school students prep for college — and beyond
The USC A-LAB Architecture Development Program was imagined in 2021 as a way of increasing diversity and inclusion in the design professions. Since then, 86 students from Los Angeles Unified School District high schools have completed the semesterlong architecture immersion course, including five who will attend USC in the fall. The program, taught largely through a series of studio architecture projects, challenges participants to find creative solutions to real-life design problems. Students receive mentoring, resources to apply to college, as well as high school credit and USC course credit.
