USC is celebrating the rededication of the renovated Davidson Conference Center as the permanent home of the USC International Academy this Wednesday, Oct. 21. The event celebrates the first year of a one-of-a-kind program for the university’s international students.
The Academy was launched in the fall of 2014 to provide immersive support services for international students. Through test preparation, language courses and individualized admissions consulting, the Academy helps students prepare for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs at research universities across the U.S. — including at USC.
No other Top 25 private research university offers similar services with the inclusion of a pre-master’s program, which includes a unique suite of courses to prepare students for USC’s rigorous graduate degrees. Nearly 100 USC graduate degrees offer conditional admission through the pre-master’s program, including Business, Engineering, Computer Science and more.
“It’s unique in that it’s the first time a university like USC, a top-tier research university, has a program that makes our degree programs this much more accessible to international students,” said Anthony Bailey, USC Vice President for Strategic and Global Initiatives.
There are currently over 700 students in the academy overall, with 247 in the pre-masters program. The Academy’s student body includes more than 30 nationalities with China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Turkey, Khazakhstan, Kuwait, Korea, Brazil, and Vietnam among the top 10 sources of students.
