Food service pros face off: Who will be named the top chef of USC?
Ten of USC’s culinary experts compete — but only one can leave the kitchen with the crown

It seems everybody loves a cooking competition especially when the competitors are chefs from various USC food-service facilities.
Ten of USCs culinary experts gathered in the Grand Ballroom at the Radisson at USC hotel Tuesday for the 2017 Culinary Challenge, to work with the featured ingredient: bone-in pork loin. Competitors Adrian Agustin (Fertitta), Blake Clevenger (Radisson), Renato Colmenares (Parkside Restaurant), Olga Cordon (Cafe 84), Maryann Nasca (Little Galen), Emmanuel Nunez (USC central kitchen), Jonathan Perez (USC central kitchen), David Schanhals (USC central kitchen) and David Teal (Everybodys Kitchen) served up their best, but when the plates were cleared, Mireya Medina (Moreton Fig) was named the winner.
The real winners, though, may be the folks who get to eat these pros fine feasts every day.
